Eagle Point Murder Suicide Names Released

Police say Sunday evening they found a man and woman shot dead at a home in Eagle Point. Tonight, we’ve learned the names of the two deceased.

Neighbors are confused and in shock. “Her name was Liesa, that’s all I really knew,” says neighbor Fred Couzzo.

Police say it appears 53 year old Liesa Werner was shot and killed with a single bullet Sunday afternoon — fired by her ex-boyfriend.

“It looks like this was a domestic situation.” Andrea Carlson of the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department tells us.

According to family members, 56 year old Eugene Koch of Eureka, California, showed up unannounced to this home in the 2300 block on Butte Falls Highway. He arrived around 5 pm on March 25. At 6:11 a family member called police reporting two deaths.

“We’re still trying to iron out the details at that point.”

Police say, while Werner and Koch had recently broke- up, those closest to them never saw this coming.

“It sounds like through family, and people who knew these two people, that there had never been any signs of domestic issues or violence between them that they saw.”

“You know you watch the news you see a lot of this. You know murder suicide.”

Many feel like these kinds of tragedies are increasing.

“In the past three days we’ve had three separate shootings that can all be deemed back to domestic issues.”

And even the sheriff’s department is noticing an up-tick. “Our are seems to see them often right now. And just like people at home, you don’t like to hear it happening in your neighborhood, down the street, somebody you know… we don’t like to have it happen either.”

Now, another family left heartbroken. The community left concerned after another loss so close to home.
