An earthquake hit off the coast of Northern California this afternoon.
According to the U.S.G.S. the magnitude five point one earthquake struck at 2:43 about 160 kilometers or 99 miles west of Ferndale.
No tsunami warnings were issued.
There have been no reports of any injury or damage.
