Fire at Yreka apartment complex prompts evacuations

Yreka, Cal. — A Yreka apartment complex escaped without much damage after a massive fire in the parking structure early this Wednesday morning.

The Yreka Fire Department says although the carport of the Dry Diggins apartment complex on Shasta Avenue was damaged, crews made quick work in making sure the flames didn’t spread. The main structure of the complex itself sustained minimal radiant heat damage.

Yreka police say all the residents were evacuated with no injuries reported. Five cars in the structure were severely damaged and are a total loss. The cause of the incident is still under investigation.
