Former Grants Pass City Manager fired in Oregon City

David FrasierGrants Pass, Ore. — A former Grants Pass City Manager is fired from same job he held in Oregon City after employees say he made racially and ethnically insensitive comments.

KGW reports David Frasher, who was working as the city manager of Oregon City, had been on paid leave since August.

The complaint alleged Frasher told a police captain and sergeant that he had recently visited Romania and said quote: “all of the people in Romania were hard-working because they were all white.”

Court documents indicate he said he only repeated what a taxi driver in Romania had told him and it wasn’t his own opinion.

The Oregon City HR director says Frasher was fired not because of the complaints but because of how long he waited to file those complaints against him.

Frasher then accused the captain and sergeant of lying about his comments.

Frasher previously resigned as city manager from Grants Pass in 2009 after the city council reportedly tried to fire him for being belligerent and uncooperative.
