shane hagey in courtMedford, Ore. — Shane Hagey, a former Jackson County official, has pleaded guilty to a charge of meth possession, the Jackson County District Attorney’s office announced Monday morning.

The district attorney’s office says Hagey was sentenced to 18 months supervised probation, drug treatment, 40 hours of community service, $200 court fine, testing upon request, search conditions and Judge Mejia did not suspect his driver’s license for six months since he was not in a motor vehicle at the time of the arrest. This is the standard sentence for Possession of Controlled Substance.

District Attorney Beth Heckert said “When someone who holds a leadership position in the criminal justice system commits a crime, it effects the legitimacy of the entire system. However, it is also a reminder that addiction can effect anyone in our community.”

Officials also noted that under Oregon law, Hagey can apply for misdemeanor treatment if he successfully completes probation and he will also be eligible to expunge the conviction after three years.
