Former Roseburg teacher facing child sex abuse charges

A former teacher at Fullerton IV Elementary in Roseburg pleaded guilty Tuesday afternoon to encouraging child sex abuse.

Our partners at KPIC-TV say Steven Derlacki, 30, was facing 40 counts, but after reaching a deal with the prosecutor, pleaded guilty to only eight counts of encouraging child sex abuse in the first degree.

Under the deal, Derlacki would face five years in prison with three years of post prison supervision. He would also have to register as a sex offender.

His sentencing is set for February 17.

Judge George Ambrosini can add more time to the sentence if he sees fit.

Derlacki was arrested back in July of 2010, after his roommate discovered child pornography on his computer and contacted police.

Police found over 500 videos and images of minors involved in sexual acts, but none of them appeared to be local children.
