Fourth of July events take over the Rogue Valley Monday

ASHLAND PARADE PICJackson Co., Ore. –Fourth of July celebrations are kicking off across the Rogue Valley Monday morning.

If you haven’t secured your spot for the Ashland Fourth of July Parade, you might be standing this year! Blankets, chairs, tape, rope, and tarps line Siskiyou boulevard more than 24 hours before the parade even begins.

NBC5 News found one man in search of a spot this morning.

“Had to find a good spot, obviously we were a little late, so, in putting a tarp down, but we’re going to do our part i guess, see what we can do,” Reed Schmidt said.

The rule is that territory could be claimed beginning at 6 AM Sunday morning, but police said people began securing their spots even before that. The Ashland parade kicks off at 10 Monday morning.

If you’re looking for a place to watch fireworks, organizers of this year’s Red, White and Boom! celebration say their display won’t disappoint. It’s the Rogue Valley’s largest Fourth of July celebration at the Jackson County Expo.

The event starts at five with three live music performances throughout the evening. Fireworks are set to begin around ten. The event is free to the public and seating is first come first serve.

Several 400 mile per hour flyovers by the Oregon Air National Guard are scheduled for the Fourth of July holiday. The first one begins at 10 AM over Central Point, and ends at the Lake of the Woods Fourth of July celebration in Klamath Falls around 11:55 AM.
