Fruit recall affects major grocery stores

Have you bought peaches, nectarines, or plums recently There’s a major fruit recall due to fears of a food-borne illness that is affecting some major grocery stores.

One company is voluntarily recalling many of it’s fruits due to possible Listeria contamination. It is a nationwide recall and affects many top grocers and many favorite summer fruits.

The recall comes from Wawona packing company. It’s pulling its peaches, nectarines, plums, and pluots from one of their warehouses in California after a Listeria scare.

This affects fruit at the stores:

-Costco

-Trader Joe’s

-Kroger

-Walmart Corp. (which also operates Sam’s Club)

The company calls it a precautionary step to recall these fruits and they are not aware of any illnesses related to eating their product, but these stores are urging customers not to eat the fruit out of an abundance of caution.

This company also supplies fruit that is in some pies in these grocery store chains. The full list of recalled items is on fda.gov.
