Goat, dirt bike stolen off Josephine Co. property

Merlin, Ore. —  A Josephine county family is asking for the community’s help, after a goat and a dirt bike were stolen from their property on Thanksgiving. The goat, Snowy, has been returned, but the bike is still missing.

“I called the sheriff’s department, and felt very violated,” Magen Jones said. “Who steals from a child, and who steals a goat?”

The family realized Snowy was gone on Thursday morning when they went outside to feed their livestock.

“She wasn’t anywhere, I mean, me and the boys looked for a couple hours,” Jones said. “My son went down to the barn, he figured it out that his dirt bike was missing, and we looked everywhere thinking maybe we just moved it, and it was gone, all of our helmets were gone, that’s when we realized everything was gone all at the same time.”

Jones took to Facebook, asking for the safe return of snowy and her son Kenny’s bike, no questions asked. On Friday morning, they got half their wish, delivered by a man in a pickup truck with no license plates.

“I went down to the gate, he said he had my goat, handed her back to me, and that was it, I said thank you,” Jones said.

While Snowy is back, the dirt bike is still missing.

“I’m just very sad that my bike gets stolen too,” Kenny Stinson said. “It was a perfect beginner bike for me.”

The red and white Honda 70R is worth about $600. The family is asking for the bike to be returned as well.

“Bring it back,” Jones said. “Like I said, I got my goat back, no questions asked. I don’t care. there’s no reason for me to be angry as long as it’s back.”

Snowy was injured, and the family is hoping she’ll recover. If you have any information about the bike, you are asked to call the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office.
