‘Granny Dollar’ passes away

Ruch, Ore. — A familiar face in the Rogue Valley, Maryanne Petersen, known by many as ‘Granny Dollar’ passed away Saturday.

Perhaps most well known for her work in some 1990s TV ads for a local car dealer, many knew Granny for her work with animals.

A dog lover, Granny worked with multiple local agencies to rescue pets.

She also volunteered with Lunch Buddy, Young Reader, the Rural Action Team Office and with therapy dogs at the VA hospital.

We’re told Granny passed away peacefully at her Ruch home Saturday. She is survived by 3 children, 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren and an even larger extended family. Granny was 83.

All of us at NBC5 and NBC2 extend our deepest sympathy to her family.
