Grants Pass man arrested at gunpoint

GRANTS PASS, Ore. — A man is in the Josephine County Jail after an officer came across him waving what appeared to be a handgun above his head while arguing with a woman in downtown Grants Pass.

It happened Tuesday afternoon. Officers say 46-year-old Antonio Guindazola was arguing with a woman in the alley behind 7-11. An officer making his way to an unrelated call saw the dispute and took action.

The handgun the man was waving was actually a BB gun, but officers didn’t know that at the time. They arrested him at gunpoint near 5th and M.

“He jumped out of the car immediately, he never put his lights on or anything,” recounts witness Wayland Rumble. “He just got out right in the middle of the roadway put the gun up and all the traffic came to a complete halt.”

Officers say Guindazola complied with their commands and was arrested without incident. They say Gunidazola had shot the woman three times with the BB gun before they arrived. She was taken to the hospital with non life threatening injuries.

Guindazola’s facing multiple charges including menacing, unlawful use of a weapon, and third degree assault.
