Woodburn, Ore. — A Grants Pass man has been identified as the man killed after an officer involved shooting in Salem on Wednesday night.
Investigators say an Oregon State Police trooper attempted to stop a car driven by 36-year old Jasper Levi Adams near Woodburn.
But they say Adams sped away, continuing south on Interstate 5 driving recklessly at high speeds. Police say the shooting happened at the end of the chase. No troopers were injured.
I-5 south in the area was closed for six hours and had traffic backed-up as long as four miles during the investigation.
The Statesman Journal reports Adams’ only criminal record is a 2004 misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence and court records show he had nine driving violations from 2001 to 2011.
