Habitat For Humanity Robbed

Thieves break into a Habitat for Humanity construction trailer stealing nearly $5,000 dollars worth of tools from the Christian based non-profit.

On Saturday night thieves broke into this trailer… “They apparently cut the padlock”… stealing 45-hundred dollars worth of tools purchased by Habitat for Humanity.

“It’s especially sad because they’re stealing from people that really need it.”

The organization builds homes for Jackson County residents living in substandard housing.

“These volunteers are working 4 days a week building the Falco home, and so the work can continue today and all this week they brought their own tools.”

The Falco family will be here this weekend working as well…

“They’re very excited to get into their house and this is a set back… it’s upsetting for everyone.”

But as they say, it’s a hand up, not a hand out… and everyone is willing to do what it takes.

“We’ve gotten a lot of support from businesses.”

Habitat has been getting help from the community … lending them tools and giving them money… still the theft is an emotional blow.

“Unfortunately this is kind of a community of where we’re at these days, I guess.”

In the meantime volunteers are at work.

“We’re up and running… hobbling through it.”

Not allowing thieves to rob a family in need of their dream.

Medford PD is investigating the theft.

Habitat for Humanity says their saws are easily identifiable… they’ve got a 30-foot blue and yellow striped cord.
