Hit And Run Penalties Could Increase This Week

Lawmakers will consider a bill to increase the penalties on drivers convicted of hit-and-run crashes.

In House bill 2542, if a driver is convicted of leaving the scene of a serious injury crash, their license would be taken away for 3 years… after the driver spent time behind bars.

Right now, drivers convicted of hit-and-run crashes lose their license for one year..and 5 years if someone dies in the crash.

The bill is set to gobefore the legislature this week.
