Jackson County fair taken down, numbers expected to be up

Central Point, Ore. — Five fun-filled days have come to a close for the Jackson County Fair. On Monday, rides were being disassembled, and food trucks left their lots, but from the vendors, to the Jackson County Expo staff, it’s all smiles.

“We’re tired, but with everybody this year, the general feeling is up,” Expo Board Member Jim Teece said.

Along with the mood, numbers are expected to be up as well.

“It worked last year, it’s going to work again this year, when we see the numbers, I think you’ll be happy,” Teece said.

In 2015, the fair saw a record year, bringing in 81,000 people. This year’s numbers haven’t been released yet, and they aren’t expected to be quite as high. However, Teece noted it’s about more than just admission.

“You measure success in a lot of different ways, it’s not just in attendance numbers,” Teece said. “You look at revenue, you look at, did people have a good time?”

With everything from traditional rides and fair food, to new additions like wireless hotspots, the Expo staff tried to cater to every age group.

“You wouldn’t believe how many Pokemon hunters were here, it was wild!”

And even though the event just wrapped up, organizers are already planning for 2017, and they want your input.

“We’re sending a post-fair survey out, we’ll put in on Facebook, and we invite the community to let us know what we can do to learn and improve.”

The money brought in by the Jackson County Fair financially supports the Jackson County Expo for the entire year. The numbers for 2016 are expected to be released in the next couple of days.
