Josephine County potentially to see more tax levies on next ballot

11201E00-EDXIDJosephine County, Ore. — Josephine County voters may see more tax levies on the next ballot.

Commissioner Cherryl Walker is proposing attaching a different ballot measure to each operation receiving funding, such as the county jail, sheriff patrols, and district attorneys.

Walker says the a-la-carte tax proposal was discussed at the commissioner meeting this morning.

She says Commissioner Keith Heck does not support it while Commissioner Simon Hare will have his decision by Thursday when the proposal will be back on the agenda for the administration meeting.

If the proposal were to end up heading to the voters, they’d see it on the May ballot.
