Josephine County Sheriff’s Budget Rally Scheduled For Monday

Citizens are speaking out about the recent budget cuts to the Josephine County Sheriff’s Department.

There will be a kickoff rally in support of measure 17-43 or the criminal justice levy.

The measure will provide funding for the sheriff’s department, which may be facing the loss of nearly 70 deputies.

State representative Wally Hicks will speak in the rally, along with other county officials.

The millions in cuts would result in the time deputies respond to domestic situations, as well as impact many of thier other duties.

The budget woes have already freed thirty low-risk inmates from the county jail.

The rally will be held in front of the county courthouse starting at 5:15 Monday night.
