Kerby Man Arrested in Connection with Neighbors Death

64 -year-old Donald Easley was taken from his home around noon today and booked into the Josephine County Jail on charges of murdering his neighbor, 59-year-old Laron Estes.

Eyewitnesses report the two men had been embroiled in an argument

“There’s been further investigation actively investigating the case since the shooting on September 7th,” says Deputy District Attorney Lisa Turner.

Witnesses say Easley shot Estes three times including one shot to the back.

Estes was rushed to the hospital where he later died.

The Josephine County District Attorney has now filed charges against Easley.

Turner says, “based on the investigation and the information that its revealed since the 7th the decision was made to arrest Mr. Easley.

This is not the first time Easley has been connected to a fatal shooting.

In 2009 he was cleared by a grand jury in the death of his neighbor.

Jurors determined it was self defense.

Others living in the Kerby neighborhood where the shooting took place have been frustrated that it’s taken so long to make an arrest in this case.

“He was lodged on murder with a firearm and unlawful use of a weapon with a firearm,” Turner says of the charges.

They are likely to be relieved with this latest development.

Easley will be in court tomorrow to begin dealing with these charges.
