Kids compete in chef competition

Medford, Ore.–A special group of chefs are sharing their passion for cooking by participating in a competition that promotes healthy foods.

Students from 11 elementary schools in the valley participated in a the ‘Future Chef Sompetition’ at North Medford High School Saturday.

The event is put together by Sodexo, a food supplier for schools in the area to promote healthy eating.

“It gives them a focus on learning something and at the same time it gives them a lot of other skills that might be able to help in their lives later on,” said Jeff Ashmun with Sodexo Education.

Asa Mountain from Madrone Trail Charter School won first place for his tropical fruit parfait and took home a gift basket with an Amazon Kindle tablet.
