Klamath Falls soap maker vying for $50,000 prize

Klamath Falls, Ore. – A Klamath Falls woman hopes your vote will help to expand her business.

Tashia Owen made her first batch of soap five years ago. She said, “My very first product was grapefruit lavender soap, and I was surprised that it turned out so perfectly – $78 is what it cost to make our very first batch of soap.”

Tashi Handmade Naturals is one of a thousand businesses to sign up for a $50,000 top prize in a competition offered through AT&T.

Owen is one of 10 finalists – and the only finalist in the western United States. She hopes winning the competition will allow her to expand her business. “Hiring a team would mean the world to me.  We would finally have help making product, and we would finally have someone to help with the marketing,” said Owen.

10,000 bars of Tashi Soaps were sold last year.
