Looking For Help

Volunteers with the crime and prevention unit in Josephine County handed out applications at the YMCA today seeking the help of anyone who is willing to aid the city.

The Josephine County Sheriff’s Department is facing looming budget cuts if a proposed tax levy does not go through on the May 2012 ballot. Cuts could come both to local deputies as well to jail size.

Currently the county has nearly 50 volunteers but they are looking to double that number if possible. Duties of volunteers include patrolling all boat ramps, parks, mobile home areas, as well as making home security checks.

If you are interested in applying for a position on the volunteer crime and prevenetion team you can call the department at 541 474 5123.
