Shelby Spiker has 3 reasons…more correctly 3 people she is organizing A Lupus walk for…all them living with the disease. She says “my mom…she’s amazing…i need here around when I get older…even when I’m 40 i need her.” The other two are her cousin and her aunt.
“my cousin Ashley she has it pretty bad…she deserves a life with out it. The love of her family…combined with a thought that just wouldn’t leave her head, have led to this event. Her mom says “she is amazing she would move heaven and earth for me”
Deanna says the disease pops up at random times and in variety of ways doctors can help manage the symptoms, but not the disease.
Deanna says ” one main things is awareness most people, they don’t know what lupus is.”
Shelby is taking on the role of standing up and in a strong voice…trumpeting the battle many are fighting against this disease.
” I hope to see strangers come…..get the word out people’s lives are being destroyed.” Perhaps it will be one of those strangers that will help save those closest to Shelby.
