Man arrested after armed robbery at Grants Pass motel

GRANTS PASS, Ore. — Frightening moments for a man in Grants Pass after he was robbed at gunpoint in a room at the Motel 6 on Northeast 7th street Monday afternoon.

Police said 31-year-old Christopher Pedersen pulled out a gun, pointed it a the victim, then took his cash, cell phone, and tablet before he took off.

“I saw three cop cars pull in one from each corner of the building and they all converged,” said Bill Thompson, an employee at a nearby car wash.

Thompson said the sight of law enforcement at the motel isn’t uncommon.

Police found Pedersen at a nearby Walmart based on a vehicle description. He was arrested after a brief struggle. Three others with him at the time of his arrest were questioned and cleared of any wrongdoing.

It’s unknown if the victim and Pedersen knew each other or what led up to the crime. Pedersen is in the Josephine County Jail and is facing a robbery charge.

This is the second incident of it’s kind at the Motel 6 in two weeks. 30-year-old Antoine Roberson was arrested for attempting to rob a woman at gunpoint in the motel’s parking lot on February 1st.
