Medford man allegedly caught abusing 5-year-old son from camera audio

christopher hortonMedford, Ore. — A Medford man pleads not guilty to assault charges after surveillance cameras allegedly capture the sound of him hitting his son.

According to court documents, the 5-year-old boy’s mother picked him up after visiting his father, 43-year-old Christopher Horton in late November. Documents reveal the boy had an injury on the left side of his face that Horton said he received when he fell, although doctors disagree with that statement. The boy wouldn’t discuss details of the incident.

The police report says the video shows Horton taking the boy out of the home and Horton can be heard striking the boy while Horton is asked to stop. In the report, when confronted with the surveillance evidence, Horton acknowledged he slapped the boy’s hands but not his face.

Horton is charged with third degree assault and fourth degree assault and harassment.
