Medford man wins big playing Megabucks

Medford, Ore. — A Medford man who bought a lottery ticket on his way to fish is glad he did because now he’s a lot richer.

According to the Oregon Lottery William Batzer became the state’s 255th Megabucks millionaire today after buying the ticket worth $3.8 million last week.

Batzer bought his ticket for $2 from the Purple Parrot on Biddle Road. They said he selected the winning numbers as they came to him and based on birthdays. The winning numbers were drawn last Wednesday, but Batzer forgot all about the ticket in his truck until Thursday.

Batzer took the cash option and after taxes went home with $1.27 million.

According to the Oregon Lottery Batzer isn’t the only winner. The Purple Parrot will also receive a $38,000 retail check commission for selling the ticket.
