Medford Plans for More Parking

Negotiations are underway for the City of Medford to purchase a 1.3 acre property in downtown Medford and convert it into a parking lot.

The Medford Urban Renewal Agency approved negotiations Thursday for the city to purchase the former Dollar GMC property at the corner of Riverside and Tenth street.

The proposed project would bring more parking to students at Rogue Community College, but some board members say there are other benefits since the property sits next to Bear Creek.

“One of the things that’s been a problem in the corridor is the invasion of non-native blackberry vines and the like. So whenever we have an opportunity to improve the corridor it helps us implement [Medford’s] master plan vision.”

Densmore says if all goes to plan the parking lot could be operational by this fall.
