Medford Police make efforts to stop gang graffiti

Medford, Ore. — Medford Police are taking steps to fight graffiti.

Theyve made an arrest in a recent tagging case and with the on-going investigation, they hope to make more arrests.

Police arrested 18-year-old Pedro Sanchez-Comacho on Wednesday, they believe he’s responsible for some of the gang graffiti in west Medford.

Police say not only does graffiti lower property values and spread a sense of fear, it’s also the first step to gang violence.

We need to get rid of that graffiti right away to send them a message no, this is not your area, this is our area and you’re not going to establish a foothold here.

If graffiti is on public property, the city will take care of it, but if it’s on private property, it’s up to the property owner to remove the graffiti.

Police say the West Side Beautification Facebook group has helped private property owners clean up graffiti.
