Medford Police officer cleared in shooting

Medford, Ore. –A grand jury cleared a Medford police officer of wrong doing in the shooting death of a 40-year-old.

Medford Police say James Anthony Morris fired one round from his weapon before being shot by Corporal Tom Venables.

The shooting took place on May 31st of this year. Morris’s girlfriend reported to police that he had a gun and told her he was going to kill police. Through the course of the investigation, it was found that Morris left behind a suicide note before the incident.
