Medford teen pleads guilty; sentenced to 84 months

MEDFORD, ORE. — A 17 year old arrested last year on charges of attempted murder and assault changed his plea to guilty Monday and was sentenced to 84 months behind bars.

Shylo Rameriz changed his plea from not guilty to guilty in a plea deal with the district attorney office.

The deal, sentenced him to 84 months. 24 months for attempted assault, and 60 months, the maximum, forunlawful use of a weapon in the first degree.

Police say around 3 in the morning on August 25 of 2014, Rameriez had planned to meet with the victim. Rameriez had allegedlypointed his fire arm at the victim’s head, and attempted to either slide back or put his finger on the trigger. According to the D.A.’s office, when the gun didn’t operate,Ramirez started hitting the victim with the fire arm causing injury.

Rameriez’s girlfriend, Tosha Cook told NBC5 in September that Ramirez was trying to protect her from an 18 year old who got too aggressive trying to win her over.

Rameriez could potentially get a second hearing for release in 42 months depending on his behavior.

He will also have 3 years supervised release when his sentence is finished.
