Merlin man arrested for shooting neighbor’s dog

arrestedMerlin, Ore. — A Merlin man was arrested after allegedly shooting a dog because it was barking.

Josephine County Sheriff’s Office says they responded to the 700 of Ort Lane on Wednesday morning where they say 57-year-old Gary Toothman shot his neighbor’s pit bull.

Deputies say Toothman became uncooperative and was tased before being taken into custody. The dog is expected to recover.

Toothman is facing an animal abuse charge and all firearms at his home were seized.
