Missouri massacre: nine dead

Tyrone, Mo. — (NBC News) Investigators in Missouri are trying to figure out what caused a man to go on a killing spree that claimed eight lives.

It took place at four different homes in the town of Tyrone.

In all, eight people were shot to death, including the suspect.One woman survived the attack.

Police say they found the suspect’s mother dead as well, apparently from natural causes.

The county coroner says the victims shot at the first crime scene were husband and wife.

In second and third houses, deputies found two other married couples shot to death; a young boy apparently slept through one of the attacks and was not hurt.

At a fourth house, police discovered another man shot to death, his wife shot, but clinging to life.

Police found the suspected gunman, Joseph Jesse Aldridge, dead in a nearby county.
