Money 101

Managing your money in a tight economy is a big challenge – and the rules are changing. A free class is coming up Thursday in Klamath Falls that could help you control your finances, rather than having your finances control you.

Michelle Scott of Klamath and Lake Home Ownership Center understands downsizing first-hand…

“Coming from a business of being a manager in a large corporation here in Klamath County, to becoming a manager for a non-profit agency, I too have had to live this.”

Scott says that Klamath / Lake Community Action Services will be offering a free seminar Thursday focusing on money management basics…

“We’re very excited to present personal finance, home ownership, and consumer protection.”

Organizers stress that the seminars are not on how to make money, but how to protect what money you’ve got.

‘Personal Finance’ will focus on coping with bills on a tight budget. ‘Homeowner Education’ will touch on foreclosure prevention, and home loans. ‘Consumer Protection’ might just help you avoid getting caught in a scam.

“This is basic information for anyone.” Noted Scott. “You don’t have to be a homeowner to attend. This is personal finance, and your well-being.”

The event will take place from noon to 4:pm Thursday at Klamath / Lake Community Action Services, next to the Ella Redkey Pool on Main Street in Klamath Falls.
