MPD pulls over stolen car in high-risk traffic stop

MPD HIGH RISK STOP PICMedford, Ore. — Medford police pulled over a reported stolen car in a high-risk traffic stop in north Medford Sunday afternoon.

Just before 3 PM, an officer ran the license plate of an out-of-state car, and it returned as stolen. Multiple units responded to the Arco station and Lava Lanes, where they pulled the car over.

“Stolen vehicles often times have people who are wanted, who will flee from the car, or there’s weapons in the car, and so a lot of officers will respond to that to perform what’s called a high-risk traffic stop,” Sergeant Jason Antley said.

Three people were in the car. They were all detained at the scene, but only the driver, Jordan Johnston, was arrested. He’s facing unlawful use of a motor vehicle, as well as drug charges.
