Murder investigation underway in Klamath Falls, suspect arrested

Klamath Falls, Ore. – The Klamath County Major Crime Team has been activated for a homicide investigation in Klamath Falls.

Neighbor Ruth Bravo says the police arrived in her neighborhood Saturday night.  “There was cops all over, there was yellow tape, and it kind of made me worry a little bit.”

Deputy District Attorney David Schutt has confirmed that a murder investigation is underway.  “Law enforcement responded to the 2400 block of Orchard Avenue, confirmed that there was a deceased person at that location.”

Schutt adds that police haven’t released the name of the victim.  “We’re in contact with who we believe to be the victim’s family, but right now, just due to the nature of the investigation, law enforcement is not releasing that name.”

It’s also unclear just when the murder may have taken place.

“I’ve been seeing people in and out of that house.”  Notes neighbor Jack Bravo.  “And last night, I heard on the comments, that they found someone, for, it’s been about a week now – a week or two weeks – so someone had to have known something.”

“So we are trying to construct a timeline for when this may have happened.”  Confirmed Deputy D.A. Schutt.

Schutt adds that police have arrested a suspect in connection with the murder.  “26 year old Sheyanna Ray is in custody in the Shasta County Jail, she has been booked on probable cause for murder, assault, abuse of a corpse, and tampering with evidence.”

State Police processed the crime scene throughout the night and into the early morning hours.

Knowing a murder may have happened in her own neighborhood has hit Ruth Bravo hard.  “It’s kind of creepy that it happened right over here.”

Suspect Sheyanna Ray will be arraigned on the charges in California, then the extradition process will begin to return her to Oregon.
