172 rescue miniature horses, scheduled to go up for auction on Saturday, were on displayfor potential bidders to preview on Friday.

The miniatures, along with two full-size horses and three pygmy goats, will be auctioned at 10am Saturday at the Josephine County Fairgrounds in Grants Pass.

Hundreds are expected to turn out. Some are traveling quite a distance to attend. Hopeful bidders from Idaho, Washington and evenTexas have said they will be there.

In September, Josephine County seized the animals from Kandi Lucile Crow’s Magical Miniature Horse Ranch in Cave Junction. Officials say they had been severely neglected and malnourished. Crow faces more than 40 counts of animal neglect related charges.

Veterinarian Dr. Gary Buckmaster and a team of volunteers have spent the past 12 weeks rehabilitating the animals.
