New program helps veterans find jobs

Medford, Ore. — A new program is helping veterans in Southern Oregon and Northern California hone their skills and market themselves to employers.

Southern Oregon Goodwill’s Veterans Preference Program offers support to veterans looking for jobs through case management with an employment specialist, work experience at the Goodwill or a community partner, and free educational classes.

“These are men and women who have sacrificed so much for our community’s when they come back we feel it’s our duty to try and help them find the jobs that they deserve,” Southern Oregon Goodwill Vice President of Workforce Development Greg Lemhouse said.

The program began at the beginning of June. Veterans who want to take advantage of the services can call (541)772-3300 or visit www.sogoodwill.org.
