New Technology Helps Locate Missing Motorcyclist

Amassive inter-agency search for a missing Phoenix man is overafter his body was found earlySunday morning in Lane County, just south of Cottage Grove.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office held a press conference to confirm that 60 year old James Lutter’s body and motorcycle had been located.

Lutter’s motorcycle had crashed about 15 feet off forest service road 22 and was about 12 feet down an embankment.

Police say Lutter’s body was trapped underneath.

Aping to Lutter’s cell phone police was able to dial in on a general location, but that a tip from a hunter, who saw the story on the news, that had ultimately led them to Lutter’s remains.

The search for Lutter was no normal search and rescue operation.

For the first time in history, the Jackson County Tactical Command Station was put into action.

Jackson County is one of the first agencies to have state-of-the-art, real time response software, able to deliver to-the-second information and maintain a common operating picture between multiple agencies working a case.
