By noon Monday eviction notices had been posted on Occupy demonstrations at two parks near the White House.
A no-camping rule is now in effect in the city.
Tents could stay, but no more living in them by protesters, some of whom remain defiant.
“We’re going to keep doing what we do, I have no intention of leaving, this is an occupation,” said one protester.
Many, though, did leave and cleared out tents they’ve occupied since October.
Occupy demonstrators in Charlotte faced similar eviction with one big difference.
About four dozens tents were ordered removed.
A dozen occupy Des Moines protesters were arrested late Sunday night after they failed to leave the capitol grounds after it closed, while the “Occupy Oakland” demonstration turned violent Saturday.
Police used tear gas and flash grenades to disperse about 2,000 protesters when they started throwing bottles at officers.
400 demonstrators were arrested during a night of skirmishes with police.
