Oregon Child Abuse Laws

As former Penn. State football coach Jerry Sandusky is on trial for child sex abuse Oregon is one of many states revisiting its child abuse reporting laws.

Currently, Oregon law requires teachers, school personnel, and others to contact child protection authorities or police if they suspect child neglect or abuse.

House bill 4016 proposes to expand the law to also include volunteers with scout troops, church groups, summer camps and a variety of other public or private organizations that deal with children.
