Oregon Legislature back in session Wednesday

On Wednesday, the Oregon state Legislature went back in session.

It marks the beginning of what will be a whirl-wind month for Legislators.

There is only 4 weeks to complete the February special session.

Some of the items on agenda for lawmakers this term include tax bills, health care, education, and small business protection bills.

Late Tuesday, Rogue valley legislators Peter Buckley and Dennis Richardson announced a major budget deal.

The deal would avoid cuts to education, as well as programs for seniors and the disabled, all while creating a cushion in case the state suffers continued declines in revenues.

Both Buckley and Richardson expressed confidence that the budget agreement would meet approval by the full legislature Wednesday.
