Oregon marijuana committee sets new restrictions for medical marijuana

Salem, Ore. –An Oregon Senate special committee has passed new restrictions on medical marijuana.

The Senate Special Committee on implementing Measure 91 passed a proposed retail sales tax for marijuana that would replace the harvest tax approved by voters. The committee set regulations on building an inventory tracking system for growers, processors and dispensaries, inspection requirements and an Oregon residency requirement.

They also agreed on a provision that allows local governments to ban medical marijuana dispensaries within their jurisdictions.
