Pacific Power: Thousands of customers without power

Updated (12/15 9am) Pacific Power officials say over 3,000 customers are still without power in Douglas, Josephine and Jackson counties.

Officials say crews will be focusing their attention to the hardest hit areas in Grants Pass, Medford and Roseburg.


Updated (12/14 7:30am) — Pacific Power is reporting almost 7,000 customers throughout Douglas, Josephine and Jackson counties are without power as of Monday morning. That number is down from the 25,000 that were without power on Sunday.

Pacific Power crews are working to restore power in those areas.

Two Red Cross shelters have opened to help residents affected by power outages in Roseburg and Grants Pass stay warm:

Roseburg: Vine Street Baptist Church, 2152 Vine St, Roseburg, 97470.

Grants Pass: Josephine County Fairgrounds, 1451 Fairgrounds Rd, Grants Pass, 97527.


Updated (12/13 4pm) — Pacific Power is reporting approximately 25,000 customers are without power throughout Douglas, Jackson, and Josephine counties.

Officials are advising customers who are without power to prepare for their power to be out until Monday evening.

The company posted the following update on their website: “As crews make progress with restoration, they will shift additional resources to the hardest hit areas including Grants Pass, Medford and Roseburg. Outages in those areas may extend into late tonight and possibly tomorrow. This is due to the severity and widespread nature of the damage, and in some cases, extremely rugged terrain.”


Ore. — Pacific Power officials are working to restore power in multiple areas. Here is a list of areas experiencing power outages according to the Pacific Power website:

Over 6,000 people are without power in the Grants Pass, Rogue River, Gold Hill, Central Point, Azalea and Glendale areas. Crews are working to restore power by 10 a.m.

Over 7,000 people are without power in the Myrtle Creek, Riddle and Canyonville areas. Pacific Power officials say a crew has been dispatched but they don’t have an estimated time of restoration.

Over 1,000 people are without power in the Butte Falls, Eagle Point and Shady Cove areas. Pacific Power officials say a crew has been dispatched and are working to restore power by 9:30 a.m.

Over 500 people are without power in the Milton Freewater area. Pacific Power officials say the cause of the outage is a pole fire and a crew is working to restore power.
