Pear Blossom Street Fair Kicks Off at the Commons

With clear skies and mild temperatures ushering in this Friday night, families were out in full force at tonight’s Pear Blossom Street Fair. NBC5’s Laura Cavanaugh was there.

It is the kick-off event for the Pear Blossom Festival, now in its 60th year. And all-new this year for the fair was their location. The garden at the downtown medford Commons will be the permanent new home for the fair.

Families got a chance to play in the park and sample fair favorites like corn dogs, kettle corn, elephant ears and delicious Mexican treats–from fried asparagus to dungeoness crab chile rellenos. Some 100 vendors were busy all day with big business. They say business was more brisk this year than last. And those vendors will be back at it Saturday in case you missed it.
