Phoenix, Ore. — A petition is getting attention in the Rogue Valley and making its rounds on Facebook and social media.
As of Tuesday afternoon, about 875 people had signed the petition aimed at making sure the Walking with Lions Animal Sanctuary in Phoenix remains open.
According to the sanctuary’s lawyer, Daniel O’Connor, a neighbor near the property opposes the presence of lions and there’s also been concern about using the property for vacation rentals.
O’Connor said the sanctuary’s owners are working to obtain the appropriate permits.
