Plea deal clears Jesse Ruiz of all sex abuse charges

Medford, Ore. – Jesse Jacob Ruiz strikes a deal with the Jackson County District Attorney’s Office, pleading guilty to one charge of unlawful delivery of marijuana to a minor, in exchange for numerous sexual abuse charges in the case being dropped.

Medford Police arrested Ruiz arrested in September, after someone reported seeing him breaking into cars and stealing items.  At the time, he was wanted by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, accused of sexually abusing an underage girl, giving her marijuana, and burning her with a hot light bulb, causing severe injuries.

On Wednesday, Ruiz pleaded guilty to the one drug charge in the sexual abuse case. He struck another plea deal in the theft case, pleading guilty to charges of theft I and theft II. He was sentenced to three years of supervised probation. He was also recommended for a treatment program.
