‘Project Family Connect’ helping Klamath Falls homeless

Klamath Falls, Ore. – As many as 1,000 people are expected to visit the Klamath County Fairgrounds Friday from 9 to 2 for ‘Project Family Connect.’

The event provides services such as haircuts, and even basic medical and veterinary care.

“We definitely see a lot of people in our community that this is, they don’t know where to start.” Says Melissa Lindsay of Klamath / Lake Community Action Services. “Maybe they’ve never been in these circumstances, and so this event gives them an opportunity to check out services that they may not even know exist.”

Items such as hygiene kits, clothing, and shoes are also available…and those simple items may be enough to make a big difference to someone in need.

“It is great to see how much we can help somebody.” Says Kayla Petchell of KLCAS. “Even if it’s just one person, we’re still changing somebody’s life.”

This is the eighth year Klamath and Lake Community Action Services has organized the event.

The event was originally known as ‘Project Homeless Connect’…the name was changed to reflect the rising number of women and children who were either homeless, or in jeopardy of losing their home.
