Proposed Charter School Could Help Hundreds Of Kids

VIBES Charter School has been in the works for about three years and today it’s closer to becoming a reality. A project of Kids Unlimited, the application for the school hit a road block last fall when the application was deemed incomplete by the Medford School Board. Today, Director of Kids Unlimited, Tom Cole says, the application has been accepted.

If the school gets the green light, it would provide some three hundred at-risk children and teens a better chance at success in high school and graduation. The charter school funding plays by different rules than traditional public school budgets. Because of that, Cole says they would be able to keep kids in the classroom longer- a proven way to success. The VIBES charter school is expected to be in the discussion during one of the next two Medford school board meetings in February or March.
