Protesting SOU Students Face Possible Misconduct Charges

Southern Oregon University students in Washington D.C. were arrested for peacefully protesting increasing student loan debt, and now they’re facing a university investigation which could strip them of their ability to participate in student government.

SOU officials said it’s a matter of abiding by the student code of conduct, which prohibits violating the law. However, for one of the students in question He says it’s about standing up for what’s right.

Meantime, the investigation has not yet begun but when it does, it’s expected to last about 2-3 weeks. Other university officials told us the university paid for the students’ trip, meaning they were representing the university when they were arrested and that’s he problem.
