Restriction changes on painkiller, hydrocodone

The Federal Government is tightening restrictions on the prescription painkiller, hydrocodone.

Hydrocodone is the most commonly prescribed painkiller and is found in drugs like Vicodin, it also has the potential to be highly addictive. The new rules from the drug enforcement administration limit users to a 90-day supply of the drug.

They would need to see a doctor for a refill, also, doctors will no longer be able to call in such prescriptions, which must be kept in a special vault in pharmacies the rules will take effect in 45 days
