Rogue River Police investigate attempted murder

ROGUE RIVER, ORE. — (UPDATED 9/7 3:00PM)  A man wanted in connection with an attempted murder in Rogue river is behind bars.

Police arrested Shad Gary Dunbar in Medford early Monday morning.

Louis Brito says Saturday morning he stepped outside and saw lots of police activity.  When he turned to go back in the home, he noticed his front door had a bullet hole. The bullet didn’t go all the way through, but was stopped by a piece of metal separating 2 pieces of glass.

According to police the shots were fired by, 32 year year old Shad Gary Dunbar.

Dunbar allegedly fired a gun at a newspaper delivery car from his home on 7th street around 5:30 Saturday morning.

He immediately jumped in a car and followed the delivery car, firing more gun shots which hit Brito’s and his neighbors home.

Police say Dunbar followed the victims to the Chevron station in downtown Rogue River, where he was able to shoot the vehicle. Fortunately, no one was hurt.

Dunbar wasn’t found until early Monday morning on Roberts Road in Medford.

Dunbar is charged with 2 counts of 2nd degree attempted murder and 6 other charges. Bail has been set at more than 2 million dollars.
ORIGINAL ( 9/6 1:36PM) – Police in Rogue River are on the hunt for a suspect wanted in connection with an attempted murder.

It happened around 5:30am Saturday on the 300 block of 7th Street. Police say Gary Shad Dunbar allegedly fired a handgun at two people in a car, who were delivering newspapers.

Dunbar allegedly followed the vehicle in another car.  Along the way, Dunbar reportedly fired more shots and struck two homes on Broadway Street. When Dunbar caught up with the newspaper delivery car, he fired his gun, hitting the car, according to Police.

Then Dunbar drove in the direction of Grants Pass. Rogue River Police say that Dunbar later stole a red Toyota Tacoma from a home on East Evan’s Creek Road, and has not been seen since.

Gary Shad Dunbar is a white male, age 34, and is a convicted felon from California. DUNBAR is wanted for two counts of Attempted Murder, Felon in possession of a firearm, and other charges.
